Keychron K3 Ultra-slim Wireless Mechanical Keyboard (Version 2)

The design of this keyboard is stunning. Not only does it look great, but it feels very solid and durable. I bought this keyboard with brown switches, and so far they are great too, perfect tactile feel/sound without being too loud.

100% great purchase!

Pros:
- Design/simplicity
- Build quality
- Layout and overall size
- Understated RGB

Cons:
- No Software support for k3 (I tried to get VIA to work but could not find the .JSON layout file for this keyboard, LMK if you can help! )
- Del/Back-space key location
- crop key doesn't do anything in windows

I love this keyboard ! I buy it with brown switches and touch and sound are fantastic.
Received in France from China in ~10 business days. The design and the size are perfects.
Just a little comment for future releases, I switch the 'esc' and 'caps lock' keys (like some other people) but the 'caps lock' is highlighted in red. I think it will be better to can disable this feature.
I tried the bluetooth under Ubuntu 20.04 and it's discovered without any specific configuration and very responsive.
Some fn function doesn't works well under linux like 'fn-F3', 'fn-F4', and the keyboard highlight with 'fn-F5/6' set the light of my keyboard laptop but not the Keychron (but it's not very important for me).

How to improve it:
A more stable Bluetooth conectivity.
A 2.5GHz conectivity option, even if it means adding a wireless plug.
Double Shot keycaps, even if they still are ABS, douybleshots are way more durable and long lasting than painted ABS.
There are Batteries with half the stock battery size and almost the same power, and under the PCB there is plenty space to put 4 of those so....

Sumarize: Good Keyboard, great as a base to add some improvements to get the perfect experience and with a bit of investment, comparable with Q series but Keycron trully need to improve its bluetooth connection stability to make it perfect.

I'm a reasonably accomplished typist (sustained 100+ wpm with peaks to ~140) and cybersecurity professional - needless to say lots of typing. Evidently I'd never used a truly good mechanical keyboard before - this has been an absolute game changer for me. The form-factor is outstanding and it is a total pleasure to type on. I came from an Apple Magic Keyboard which was very good but this is a huge upgrade. I didn't know what I was missing until I made the switch! I went with the brown switches and, while definitely clicky, the sound is fairly modest. I work from home, but I think these switches wouldn't be a problem in an office setting. 10/10 would recommend!

I've been a Keychron user for the last 4 years, starting with K1. This is now my 3rd Keychron keyboard. The K3 has a smaller footprint vs K1, and the red switches are notably quieter. The K1 has flat keys, and the K3 keycaps are more rounded, making it easier to touch type. The spacing between keys is actually better in K3, and I have a lot fewer keystrike errors.

The one fatal flaw with the K3 backlit version is the placement of the light key. It is in the top right corner right on top of the delete key. The delete key is one key that I strike without looking. With the K3 you have to constantly look to make sure you are hitting the delete key. Otherwise throughout the day you will mistakenly hit the light key. The other frustrating part is that most other keys on this keyboard can be reprogrammed. EXCEPT the light key. A workaround that I use is to remove the light keycap and switch, and tape over it with a small piece of cardboard. Looks dorky but it works.

All of the other Keychron keyboards do not have this weird placement of the light key. But apart from this, everything else is perfect with K3. The white (nonbacklit) version of K3 does not have the light key for obvious reasons. But this only allows for mechanical gateron switches and is not hot-swappable. I much prefer the optical red switches.

Keychron if you are reading this: Please come out with a hot-swappable version of K3 nonbacklit. Or just take the K3 and get rid of the light switch in top right corner.
